Inclusion Statement
I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. I acknowledge the Wandandian people of the Booderee, the land on which I work, and pay my respects to the Elders both past and present. Over many years I have witnessed how traumatising celebrating Australia Day on 26th January is for Indigenous people. During this time, I questioned my own feminism and integrity to advocate for women without also advocating for marginalised women. I knew I couldn't stand for women without standing for ALL women.
As a white, cis-het, able bodied and educated woman, I want to use my privilege to have a positive impact. I acknowledge the advantage I have had and the systemic inequities Black, Indigenous and People of Colour face. Regardless of ethnicity or ability, I believe you should be treated respectfully and have equal access to opportunities. I believe in celebrating all people for their similarities and differences, regardless of the identities we hold.
I’m therefore committed to establishing a business that embraces racial diversity, equity, and inclusivity. This is reflected in my commitment to providing pro bono and accessible pricing for the services I offer, in volunteering as a mentor in the ACCESS Program for the Women And Girls Emergency Centre and in joining the regular giving program for Plan International for Change for Girls.
I am actively engaged in continuous learning, having already participated in programs led by Annie Gichuru and the Beautiful You Coaching Academy. To help me understand and support choice and control for people with disabilities I have completed the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission’s Worker Orientation Module and Supporting Effective Communication. In addition, I am have undertaken a private coaching series with Annie Gichuru, Racial Equity Coach and currently undertaking a coaching series with Karen Johnston.
Understanding that mistakes are inevitable on my journey of unlearning and relearning, I am committed to doing the necessary work to contribute to positive change.
Please know that although you may not see yourself represented in my work, you are welcome here and I am actively working on ensuring you feel comfortable and welcome in this space.
I am proud to have completed the course REPRESENTED - a 10-week online program with Annie Gichuru for online business owners building racially equitable businesses.
