How Sharing Stories And What You Believe In Empowers Others

Last weekend I went to the @whatwereyouwearing_ No More: National Rally Against Violence - a rally for gendered violence against women.

I did this for many reasons, one of them being that there have been 54 women killed in Australia in 2024, so far.

I wasn’t prepared for the emotions that arose upon arrival to the event.

One sign in particular hit me hardest: A sign with a list of dates, spanning years, with corresponding details outlining the experience of sexual assault, domestic and family violence and relationship abuse.

And one line that stood out from the rest…

My Story Is Not Unique’.

Stories like this echo the lives of many women.

Some whose voices can no longer be heard.

Some who never had the chance to voice them at all.

When stories like this are shared they are empowering because it allows the opportunity for others to share their stories too.

Each and every story is a supportive voice for all women who deserve better.

I believe every woman deserves to be heard and feel seen.

Every woman deserves to be free from violence.
